Utah’s Hogle Zoo dates from the 1930s and has become one of the most-visited attractions in Utah and the top paid-for tourist attraction in Salt Lake City. A Gateway Ticketing Systems customer since 2001, Utah’s Hogle Zoo uses Gateway’s flagship product suite, Galaxy, for integrated ticketing and access control, and is easily able to process upwards of 10,000 guests a day on weekends.
Utah’s Hogle Zoo utilizes Galaxy Point of Sale for ticket sales onsite as well as online through their eGalaxy Web Store. Galaxy is also used for access control, resource management, order entry & group sales and packages. With Galaxy, everything from front gate and online sales to the Zoo’s camps and classes are covered under one system.

In 2010, the Zoo began managing their 25,000 member households through Galaxy Membership. Replacing their previous 3rd party donor and membership product, switching to Galaxy streamlined their operations and provided a seamless visitor experience for members and non-members alike. Mark Miller, Guest Services Manager at the Zoo, says: “Previously, visitors would purchase a membership and be issued a temporary card at the ticket counter, we would then process the membership and send them their membership IDs by mail. We are now able to issue their membership cards on the spot, making the entire process more efficient for us and seamless for the guest. We encourage members to do their renewals through our eGalaxy Web Store. Because there is no expiration date on the cards, their original IDs are still valid. If a membership lapses, the membership barcode expires through Galaxy admission control, which makes monitoring lapsed memberships at the front gate a breeze.”
